Whiten Your Teeth!!!

Do you want whiter teeth? Can't afford all those pricey strips and products? Well here's a way to pick up those stains without wearing down on your enamel. Next time you eat an orange, keep the peel. Rub the white part (inside of the peel) against your teeth. Do that often and you'll see the results. Remember to eat the orange too, it's good for you.

Mission Save Dog: The Invisible Man

This is my last blog for the quarter. This is a response to my last post. I saw that clip on the internet and thought that it would be fun to make my own stop motion film. So here it is for you to enjoy. It's short and it took me awhile to make.

Safe Shopping Part 2

I'm sad to say that this year's black friday was worse. This is part 2 of my After-Thanksgiving Day Sale 2008. Just when I blogged about having a safe shopping experience, this has to happen. What is wrong with people? Instead of waiting in line for hours, maybe even days, spend that time working and make money. Use that money to buy what you want. Most of the time you can get better stuff with the money you make then the low end stuff they put on sale. I don't know what to say anymore. Good Stuff.
I HOPE THAT WALMART CLOSED AND SOLD NOTHING THAT MORNING. NOBODY THERE DESERVES ANYTHING THAT MORNING.

Freeze Group

So on Monday the 3rd group will be presenting their freeze project and I would like to blog about it before it's too late. From what I understood from how they explained their project, their goal is to have people Stop their everyday life for a moment and "smell the roses." By freezing they will get people to take the time to observe them and maybe pick up on what they are trying to express. Just by doing so they are breaking their everyday routine in order for them to take the time to examine their project. For myself, I am not sure if this counts or not, but once every week I try to drive a different route home. You get to see parts of your neighborhood and city that some might not if they just do the same thing everyday.

Ryan Leslie Post 2

One of my older post I had a video of Ryan Leslie making his music and I didn't say how that was related to the class. I'm not sure if he used Final Cut or whatnot but it shows how he used different sounds and pieced it all together to make something that sounds nice. And he did all of that by himself one sound at a time. Great to see what we could possible do if we like what we are doing now in class. Here's another clip from him. Hope you enjoy. And if you like what you see you can learn more about video and sounds in Joe's class next quarter. <-----Look, Advertisement for Joe's class. I should get paid.

Happy Thanksgiving!!! Safe Shopping

Keep your hair on your head. Which day is more popular??? Thanksgiving Day or the Day After??? We should give the day a new name or holiday of its own. Let's call it "America Goes Crazy For Shopping Sales Day!!!" or "LGCFSS Day." Hope everyone has a safe holiday.

Music These Days part 2

Well I stole this idea from Sasha's page. You can't really say that all country music is empowering to women. There are always a few bad apples in the batch. There are a lot of hip-hop music that is up-lifting toward women too.

Differences

From Joe's video we heard stories about commercial graffiti vs. street graffiti. Looking at the two photos, the ones that are done in the street has a more powerful effect on me. What do you guys think?

Graffiti

I can see the funny side of the photo. Too many cameras in public places. Some of the cameras are not for our safety, but for just observation or spying on our everyday life. Who really knows what "The Man" has up his sleeve?

Group 1: Final Project

It was a pleasure to work with everyone in my group. Never was there a problem and everyone respected one another's ideas. In the end I think we were successful with our project. Good Job.

Surreal Pistol

This would be a helping hand if you considered killing yourself. Would someone actually make one for production? Kinda dark humor if someone actually uses the gun to kill themselves. You can write a "Novels in Three Lines" with the story.

Man, from somewhere out there, kills himself. He points the gun straight ahead and fired a single round at his face. Bang, bullet went back to his face.

Tired

I'm in class now and I'm so tired. I was up all night at the casino. I was all energized when I was there, but as soon as I left my soul left with me. Maybe we should decorate UW Bothell like a casino. Make the carpet a certain pattern and paint the ceiling and walls a specific color. Then maybe I'll be more alert and full of energy. Then professors might not complain about students falling asleep in class.

Fire!!!

In Lake Forest, California, a group of Marines alerted all the people at a motel that there was a fire. Everyone evacuated before the firefighters got there. Hoo-rah!!!

Don't take your Vitamins!

Extensive research shows that taking Vitamin C and E supplements do absolutely nothing to a person's health and it does not prevent heart disease. For the millions of Americans taking these supplements, be aware that they could actually be harmful to you. Just eat a complete diet.

Microsoft says NO

Jerry Yang, CEO of Yahoo, says that it's at Microsoft's best interest to acquire Yahoo. Microsoft spokesman says there's no interest and no discussions between the two companies. No money for Jerry Yang.

Paloma

Hurricane Paloma crashes through Cuba on Sunday. No major damage, power lines down. Many people were evacuated to safe locations.

Buy Now!!!

King County's real estate is down thanks to the economic turmoil. The median price for new listings is 400,000, has not been this low since 2006. Get them while they're hot.

Screwed

Frances Taylor, 96 years old, has been taken advantage of all her assets and money worth around 2 million. She has Alzheimer's disease and now lives in an adult-care facility paid by taxpayers. How sad.

Education

Shannon Harvey, a principal from a Renton elementary school, won the 2008 Milken Family Foundation Award for Washington state. It was announced to her at an assembly as a surprise. She got 250 dollars.

Would you eat a Faggot?

It's funny how words play about in different parts of the world. Do the people who print the images on these boxes know what Americans use the term as?

New Edit

Taking out the clocks from the original "La persistencia de la memoria" by Salvador Dalí and putting in ipods makes you look at the time passing through technology.

A&F Models

Thought this would give some ideas for a final project.

This would be cool if the Theatrical Group does something like this.

No TV

I just canceled my cable because I thought I don't have time to watch tv so why keep it. I came home today and turned on the tv and got a blue screen. Hmmm. What did I do? Well I just laid in my bed. I am observing my room and it's pretty empty and dull. Nothing on the walls, no colors, nothing. I was somehow motivated by my boredom to do stuff. I went to home depot to buy paint. Then I wanted to goto the mall to pick up those posters that the stores have as advertisement. I asked for a couple so I can cover a whole wall with this giant size poster of a model. Well, now I'm home and telling you what I will be doing today. I think I want hardwood floors in my room now too. I guess that will be another project for another boring day.

CCI Results - Part of Job Application

Your Personal Core Capacities IndexTM Results

To describe your unique recipe of Core Capacities, we use a set of four metaphors that correspond to the following foundational Core Capacities:

Builder: Power
Merchant: Inspiration
Innovator: Wisdom
Banker: Knowledge

These metaphors serve as a language to help us describe the characteristics of each Core Capacity. Arranged in a quadrant configuration, the scores in each quadrant give you a quick 'snapshot' of your Core Capacities:

Your Personal Core Capacities IndexTM Snapshot

Your scores indicate you have Merchant/Builder tendencies.
Your dominant Capacity Set is Merchant. Your secondary Capacity Set is Builder. These capacities cause you to act and react in ways similar to all other Merchant/Builders. However, no two persons are truly alike. We know from the number of capacities you selected out of 144 capacities available, that you have a unique strategy for living that includes some capacities from each of the four Core Capacities Sets.

Your unique dominant Merchant Capacity Set causes you to rely on the following strategies for success and fulfillment:

Your cornerstone core capacity is Inspiration. You are committed to giving and receiving inspiration in all its forms. You are constantly working to know and understand the truth about yourself and others.

You are willing to put yourself at risk in thought and action. Your commitment to others and to your own life is an encouragement to others. It is important for you to see people and things as they really are. Motivating others with your visions and ideas is very satisfying. You seldom feel defeated; You see good potential in most situations. You have the ability to help people feel hopeful and courageous. Talking with others is your way to learn and to teach.

Something new and inspiring everyday is the spice of your life. Charm and enthusiasm are part of your arsenal for success. Too much formality is boring and restrictive. You are good at getting others to work for and with you. Share your knowledge and information with others; You enjoy it and others appreciate it. Being acknowledged as a friend is important to you. You like to work and others enjoy working with you. A core strategy for you is to work effectively with others. Nothing feels right when the people you value are distant or are in conflict. No potential plan, idea or possibility gets by you.

You want to receive good rewards and appreciation for time and energy spent. You have a natural enthusiasm and like to be in situations that are fully engaging and energized. You enjoy being a bright light in your world.

Your unique secondary Builder Capacity Set supports your dominant Merchant Capacity Set.

Your cornerstone core capacity is Power, the application of pure energy for Good. This primary driver is supported by a strong faith in your own ability to know what to do, your faith that your actions are for the Good, and your faith that once you create change, you will know what to do next.

Accomplishing tasks now is a primary drive for you. You are practical and willing to face the truth. Whatever you do, you do without much hesitation. You are driven to get things done. You act as soon as you know what to do. People around you know that you are generally on task. You are strongly self-motivated.

Giving directives comes naturally to you. Your deep desire is to exert personal energy to make a positive difference. You pride yourself in the energy you expend on projects. Starting new projects and ventures makes you happy. If you can, you deal with things one at a time. You want the things you do to make a tangible difference. You like to put things and people to work.

Knowing the cost and the gain for all actions is important to you. You like to work and you admire others who work. You like speaking clearly, telling the truth and asking for what you want. There are few situations in which you feel inadequate. You use your power, physical and personal, to get what you want.

Your third level Banker Capacity Set gives you the ability to respond appropriately to a broad spectrum of situations.

Your cornerstone core capacity is Knowledge, supported by your strong desire to create Justice in the world.

Your Banker capacities are strong enough to bring balance into your life. Learning to shift your strategy to this capacity set in times of high opportunity or during conflicts will contribute significantly to your success.

You like to be the one who knows; being right and being able to prove it is important to you. Zero wasted motion, zero wasted resources, zero wasted effort; This is what you strive for. You like to provide others with proven ideas and methodology. Having all of the information is important to you, even the small things. Effective decisions are supported by analysis of similarities and differences. You care deeply when situations or the behaviors of people are unfair, or when your knowledge is used incorrectly by others. You like to understand the details of situations and issues.

You enjoy the work of keeping systems and processes running smoothly. You like to conserve resources and gain control by reducing the number of influences and authorities in any situation. You enjoy being the source of information and proven methodology. When things get messy, you may get testy. The reliability of your words and actions is critical to your sense of self respect. You work diligently to gather resources together and save them. You like to follow a prescribed course, especially when you are involved with setting the course.

Having the right information is important to you. You do what you say you will do.

Your fourth level Innovator Capacity Set gives you the opportunity to live a balanced and successful life.

You do not rely significantly on Innovator capacities to create success.

You see and understand the relative worth of people and things. You strive to cause people and things to function well together. To invent new systems, processes and things is pure pleasure. You never quit. You have wit and creativity in your thinking. It is important for you to watch, look and listen before you act. People look to you for the creation and improvement of work flow and procedures.

Finding the best solution is one of your primary contributions. You are seen as a valuable resource for leading people toward the right ideas and the right direction. Rapid and clever exchange of ideas is a personal joy and a method of work for you. You are able to see the ways things are, and you know what to do about it. Understanding others and working with them is a key asset of yours. You use everything that is available to meet requirements.

Today's Class

1
Since when can we find everything with a click of a button? This is a superstore at our fingertips. We have evolved so much and where else will go. Everything is a business. There are advertisements that suck you in. And there are silly polls that try to get your attention. They try to get your information to sell to other businesses. As people we submit to these businesses and are observed by businesses in order for them to find new tactics to draw in the crowd. How do they keep our attention? Why do we keep coming back? Sometimes we think we already know the answer. Even if we do know the answer we keep continuing like it’s a drug. Are we being drugged? Could this be a crime? These shameful business-men hooked lined and grabbed us.

Un Chien Andalou

This is a fantasy film that jumps around like a crazy man's thought process. It reminds me of some of my dreams where I am doing one thing and seconds later I'm doing something different. I don't have much to say about this film, very weird and disturbing.

Ryan Leslie

Evolution

Well here is a photo I happen to run into while browsing online.  I believe it's a carrot taking shape of a man.  Pretty soon there will be carrot men walking around taking over.

Apples

I don't know who mentioned that apples are 3 dollars, but I went to the swap-meet and they're selling apples and other fruits for 1 dollar a pound.  So I'm guessing if you find a local farmers market it will be around that price too.

In addition to my last post.

I do not recommend anyone gambling.  Especially if you don't know how or have never been.  It's really bad if you suck and cannot quit.  If you're good and cannot quit, (good job).  But yeah, there are a lot of losers in Washington state.  That's why we are seeing an increase in casinos around our area.  Too many losers end up with happy casinos and sad families who lose everything.  But if you still have an interest in the high life of gambling I will show you how to be a little winner even though you might lose.

Follow these steps:

1.  Only bring 100 dollars cash with you.  Leave all credit cards at home.
2.  Sign up for a Muckleshoot Players Club membership.  It's FREE.
3.  Go to a Roulette table "Pick the Crowded table" and exchange your 100 dollars into chips.
(IMPORTANT: GIVE THEM YOUR PLAYERS CLUB CARD TO REDEEM POINTS)
4.  Don't play right away.  Wait 3-5 spins until you feel comfortable, lucky, or see a pattern.
5.  Test out by playing 5 dollars at a time.
6.  Continue to play slow.  (each roll will take about 3-10 minutes depending on crowd)
7.  If you stayed there for about 15-25 spins you have probably been there close to 2-3 hours.
8.  You are a winner, maybe even, or a loser.
9.  Walk over to the Players Club Table and ask for a Dinner Comp.
10.  If you're a winner, good job.  If you're a loser, just think of it as a 100 dollar dinner.  Order yourself a steak or something nice.

Game Time

5 days out of the week is game night for me.  You can find me at the roulette tables from 9pm to 2am.  It's almost a 9 to 5 for me, but I get to take as long of a dinner break as I want and all the steak, crab, and lobster I can eat.  I feel at home when I'm there.
This game reflects the real world like many other games.  You pick your outcome: as you do your outcome of your life.
In the games and in the real world we have:

Risk takers - Those who aren't afraid to "jump the gun" and just go for it.  But they do it with some knowledge of the situation.

Strategist - People who like to think a lot.  Over-analyze

Careful/Scared -  They play safe.  Don't take high chances.

Care-free/Stupid -  Many ways to describe this one.  1. They're stupid and don't understand things. 2. They don't care.  3.  They have nothing to lose.  4. Drunk

Observers -  You just stand aside and watch.  Don't lose and don't win.  Just watch as life passes you by.

This is just what I think.  I'm sure it's not all true.

The Everyday Quote

Page 29 - Bottom of the 4th paragraph

"There is a saying that army life is made up of a lot of boredom and a couple of dangerous moments."

I picked this quote because I can relate to this.  I was in the military for 6 years and luckily for myself I had not experienced anything life threatening.  There was plenty of boredom to go around though.  That boredom gets you prepared if there is anything of an urgent matter.  And as soon as I finish school I plan on going back in; who knows I might get into that dangerous moment then.

20 Minutes of Nothing

What my 20 minutes of doing nothing consists of:

Starting 5 minutes -  To start off I knew that you can never do nothing.  Just sitting will be doing something.  The thing I came up with is "what do I consider as doing nothing."  I went out to my balcony and sat on my chair.  At first I just looked at the view of downtown Seattle.  My mind started thinking of random nothingness.  "Why don't I do this more often."  "I wish that tree was cut down, it'll make the value of my house rise."  "Someone should sneak over there and chop it down." "What time is it?"  This is getting boring."

Next 5 minutes -  Somehow I found myself lighting up a cigarette.  That was nice for the next couple minutes.  Then somehow a Heineken opened up to help me relax a bit more.  "This homework assignment is really nice."

Last of the 20 minutes -  I had a thought that to completely do nothing you must see nothing too.  So I closed my eyes and just sat there.  40 minutes later I felt cold and walked like a zombie to my bed and fell asleep.  That will conclude my 20 minutes of nothing.
